This is a test for concept artist role where they ask me to create a city environment concept.
In each sketch, I try to present the environment, giving more information showing the elements that dress the set: type of street, buildings, silhouettes, traffic...
I chose this sketch due to the fact that in the brief references there are mainly emblematic buildings and very marked architecture. The rest of the sketches did not give us as much information about the city, the composition was less attractive or they were located in areas
outside the city and not in the downtown.
I’ve chosen the night rain mood, knowing that it will allow me to play with the lights and the contrast to focus on what I want. I take the Blender blockout to the next level and retouch the render with images and digital painting.
Almost all the changes or adds that I’ve made to the render are for creating a more attractive and appealing composition, guiding the eye to take the right direction to recreate an “eye journey” through the image. I’m interested in focus the building in the foreground and the character, remaining separated from each other at the same time, as well. Also, I’ve tried to create the sensation of photography or cinematographic shoot through exposure and colors and without losing detail.
